Recently, small businesses in San Francisco’s Chinatown have been issued citations for their awnings, causing confusion and fear among shop owners.
Lily Lo, the founder of BeChinatown, has taken the initiative to speak up and advocate for small businesses in the area. She raised awareness about the issue, by hosting multiple press conferences and explaining the confusing NOVs to business owners. She also reached out to the District Supervisor and San Francisco City to discuss possible solutions.
The sudden enforcement of citations for awnings has caused confusion and fear among small business owners in San Francisco’s Chinatown. While it is necessary to follow building codes, the sudden enforcement without proper communication has caused panic and confusion in the community.
