SBA Resources for Myanmar Small Business in the U.S.
Highlights of the event:
William Stephanie Foundation held “SBA Resources for Myanmar Small Business in the U.S.” in person and online event on Dec 8. It had around 33 people registered the event.
The best moment is the Q&A session, when Myanmar Hon. CG Zaw Linn Maung ask Mr. Pellson Lau from SBA that what programs the SBA has available for export businesses, and Mr. Lau introduced three export-specific programs: Export Working Capital Program (EWCP), International Trade Loan (ITL), and Export Express. This has given the Myanmar Consulate and the Myanmar Community a good idea of SBA’s focus and incentives in the Myanmar — U.S. trading relationship.
The audiences, mostly start-up business owners and sole proprietors, felt excited to hear so many great programs from the SBA and State of California. One business owner said she has not yet decided to do import or export, but she will definitely consider more about export from the U.S. after attending this business workshop.
This workshop featured keynote speaker Mr. Pellson Lau, Lead Export Finance Manager from U.S. Small Business Administration and Chairman of William Stephanie Foundation, Mr. Daniel Sieu. In this workshop, more than 60 audiences (in-person plus online) learned about important topics including Access to Capital from SBA, New Loans and Grants for Businesses, and IRS Employee Retention Tax Credit Program.
The reason for holding this event is to educate Myanmar businesses in the U.S. about the latest Federal and State Programs.
