SBA Resources for Myanmar Small Business in the U.S.

High­lights of the event: 

William Stephanie Foun­da­tion held ​“SBA Resources for Myan­mar Small Busi­ness in the U.S.” in per­son and online event on Dec 8. It had around 33 peo­ple reg­is­tered the event.

The best moment is the Q&A ses­sion, when Myan­mar Hon. CG Zaw Linn Maung ask Mr. Pell­son Lau from SBA that what pro­grams the SBA has avail­able for export busi­ness­es, and Mr. Lau intro­duced three export-spe­cif­ic pro­grams: Export Work­ing Cap­i­tal Pro­gram (EWCP), Inter­na­tion­al Trade Loan (ITL), and Export Express. This has giv­en the Myan­mar Con­sulate and the Myan­mar Com­mu­ni­ty a good idea of SBA’s focus and incen­tives in the Myan­mar — U.S. trad­ing relationship. 

The audi­ences, most­ly start-up busi­ness own­ers and sole pro­pri­etors, felt excit­ed to hear so many great pro­grams from the SBA and State of Cal­i­for­nia. One busi­ness own­er said she has not yet decid­ed to do import or export, but she will def­i­nite­ly con­sid­er more about export from the U.S. after attend­ing this busi­ness workshop. 

This work­shop fea­tured keynote speak­er Mr. Pell­son Lau, Lead Export Finance Man­ag­er from U.S. Small Busi­ness Admin­is­tra­tion and Chair­man of William Stephanie Foun­da­tion, Mr. Daniel Sieu. In this work­shop, more than 60 audi­ences (in-per­son plus online) learned about impor­tant top­ics includ­ing Access to Cap­i­tal from SBA, New Loans and Grants for Busi­ness­es, and IRS Employ­ee Reten­tion Tax Cred­it Program.

The rea­son for hold­ing this event is to edu­cate Myan­mar busi­ness­es in the U.S. about the lat­est Fed­er­al and State Programs.
