“Disaster Preparedness & Crisis Communication” and “SBA Resources and Access to Capital” training workshop at LB Expo Arts Center
On 11/12/2022, William Stephanie Foundation hosted the “Disaster Preparedness & Crisis Communication” and “SBA Resources and Access to Capital” training workshop at LB Expo Arts Center in the City of Long Beach. 66 people attended. Our guest speakers featured the Former Sheriff of Los Angeles County, Mr. Jim McDonnell, Chairman of William Stephanie Foundation, Mr. Daniel Sieu, Research Director at University of Southern California, Dr. Matt Zhou, Lead Export Finance Manager of the U.S. Small Business Administration, Mr. Pellson Lau, and Senior Vice President of the Small Business Development Corporation of Orange County, Mr. Nestor Correa.
We think the best moment is Mr. Daniel Sieu’s speech about disaster preparedness. During the speech, Mr. Sieu reinforced that disasters such as California Wildfire and COVID-19 Pandemic could happen in the future, so it is always a good idea for businesses to practice drills and prepare emergency kits for disasters.
The audiences primarily include small brick and mortar business owners (Cambodians), such as barbershop, restaurant, and real estate/insurance agents. The audiences have listened carefully about our business workshops and have sent feedback to us that they have learned a lot about disaster preparedness, public safety, crisis communication, access to capital, and SBA resources.
The reason for holding this event is to connect Khmer & AAPI entrepreneurs to resources & provide a space to network in order to build a sustainable economy within our community, and help businesses owners of all ethnicities to realize their dreams.
